Chancellor’s Update:
- BOG meeting
- Board members were “extremely impressed with our West Plains campus”
- Gohn-Wood, Hass-Hoover projects on hold – Looking for additional funding sources. Bids in and we are shovel ready if money can be obtained.
- Extended outreach efforts include “Koshkonong Caravan” tonight
- Houston and Licking visits add to the 17 or 18 out of 23 high schools already visited.
- Budget kept flat this fiscal year however utilities, benefits package and other costs are increasing. This is partially offset by increased tuition from higher enrollment numbers.
- Campus Opportunities campaign helped with 12 or 13 emergency grants
- PILOT PROGRAM at Licking Correctional Facility
- May receive a federal grant to expand this program
Approval of Minutes:
- Edit needed “No entry fee for departments at auction”
- Rogers Taylor motioned to approve minutes and Norma Ogletree seconded
Old Business:
- Themes for Staff Stuffer needed
- Chili Cook-off should be kept in conjunction with the Cancer awareness campaign
- May have a dessert cook-off with a brown bag lunch day during the summer
- Might scale back on the number of Staff Stuffers held each year – maybe 3 or 4
- Community Service Committee
- Barbie would like a request to be submitted for a Campus Opportunities Campaign grant for a guest speaker to speak about customer service. A speaker may also be available through the Management Development Institute
- Need nominees for the Missouri State Wall of Fame award. Deadline is March 20th
- West Plains Public Library fundraiser Chili Cook-off was a big success
New Business:
- Need Students Award nominations
- See Rogers Taylor for assistance with the form and recommended that the form be filled out as full as possible.
- United Way and PenMac are holding a “Pattern for Success” campaign to collect dressy clothing for people seeking job interviews. Get drop off point list from Pam Tate. Needed by March 17th
- Terry Hampton suggested that we do something similar for Teacher Placement Day through Academic Outreach.
- Need Staff Senate officer Nominations
- Rogers Taylor nominated Alexandra Graham for president elect
- Barbie needs ballots before next meeting for the April vote
- Donna Bird was nominated to be our representative for the Healthcare Plan Review Committee.
Announcements:
- Staff Senate nominated Harold and Martha Henry for the Granville Vaughn Founders Award
- Joan Ragon is having her retirement reception March 31st at Kellett hall
- There will be a birding class April 10th in T205
- Catherine Chapin was welcomed as a new employee working in Records and Registration
- Next meeting is Thursday, April 9th from 2 until 3
