Also present were guests, representing United Way, Jack Bates, Tina Johnson and Chris Yoder.
I. Chancellor Updates: Gifts from the Hass, Darr families will fund renovation, expansion of post office building and it will be named Hass-Darr Hall. HLC has officially granted approval for us to once again offer the LWE degree. The Grizzly volleyball team is on their way to New York to compete in the district championship. This weekend is the Grizzly basketball team’s Tip-Off Classic and all are encouraged to attend. The United Way campaign is underway and participation is encouraged. Payroll deductions are available. Contact Cheryl Caldwell to enroll.
II. United Way Campaign: Jack Bates provided information regarding the United Way.
III. Approval of Minutes from August meeting: Motion made to accept by Grayson Gordon; All in favor.
IV. Treasurer’s Report: $658.64
V. Updates from Admin. Council:
- The policy on Staff Salary Incentive Program is being reviewed. It is for salary increases as an incentive to go “above and beyond” in daily duties. Only applicable if there is available monies.
- November 16 – Nominations are due for Staff Excellence award. Submit nominations to Mary Kellum.
- Red Carpet Days Friday, November 6 and 13 are expected to have over 400 students in attendance.
- You may participate in our local Weight Watchers program by using your $150 non-credit fee waiver benefit. The first session will be an abbreviated session, discounted to $50 for 10 sessions and runs from November 12 through January 14. Contact sheilabowen@missouristate.edu or at 6-4064 for more information or questions.
- Open enrollment for health benefits are ongoing through November 20. HRA is open through November 30.
VI. Departmental Updates and Reports:
- Library (Sylvia Kuhlmeier): Monday, November 9 – Friends of the Garnett Library will host a book signing event for local author Annie England Noblin, from 4:30-6:30pm in Kellett Hall. Friday, November 13 – Friends of the Garnett Library meeting and luncheon, noon to 1 p.m., T104-105. Guest speaker, Dean of Academic Affairs Dr. Dennis Lancaster will present “A New Cooperative Spirit Brings Advanced Training and the Hope of Jobs to the Region.” $10 to eat lunch; No charge to attend the meeting only. Friday, November 20 – Friends of the Garnett Library Jazzy Christmas Fashion Show, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., West Plains Country Club. $25 per ticket. Call 255-7940 to reserve. Saturday, November 21 – Game Day at Garnett Library hosted by the CGP Department and the Garnett Library, 1 to 5 p.m.
- Career Development Center (Jared Cates): The Career Fair was not as successful as he had hoped but some positive contacts were made.
- Records & Registration (Laurie Wall): Registering students for next semester.
- IT (Grayson Gordon): Updates to Banner were made this past weekend.
VII. Old Business:
- Chili Cook-Off & Lee Denim Day: $165.19 was raised during the chili cook-off and $200.00 was raised for Lee Denim Day. Congratulations to Grayson Gordon, the winner of the chili cook-off. Grayson will be participating in the city wide chili cook-off and will need volunteers to help.
- Volunteer Programs: Remember to log your volunteer hours. Our campus goal this year is 20K. Jared will be posting volunteer opportunities, as they come up. He expects some in the spring with Habitat For Humanity. CJ announced Oz Con is the last weekend in April and they will be needing volunteers for that.
- Staff Dedication Wall: Mary and Grayson will follow through and provide the needed information to the vendor that will make the plaques.
VIII. New Business:
- Staff Senate Scholarship Committee – Laurie Wall volunteered and we are needing 4 others.
