On this cool crisp fall day, I just gave my first tour of the semester. As we were walking along and discussing each building, I realized the love I have for Missouri State University-West Plains. The teachers, faculty and students are friendly. The campus is modern but still maintains a small community feel. Most of all, I feel like this campus is where I belong.
Sometimes the stress takes over, and my lack of energy to do school work decreases, but I could not have chosen a better school for myself. This is my last semester here before I continue on my education. I am looking to study abroad in Europe, and this year finals week will be a bitter sweet moment, full of drinking an excessive amount of cappuccinos, late night studying and capturing my last few moments of attending school at this wonderful place.
I know you are probably thinking, “Melissa, you are getting way ahead of yourself! This is only midterms!” And my response to that is, “Listeners, it will all fly by fast and you will wonder where the time went.”
I know some of you are here as a stepping block to your bachelor’s degree and some of you plan to complete your degree here. I must tell you to make this one of the best times of your life. I know, I know, this all sounds a bit cliché. It will be worth it though. I have enjoyed being involved in campus organizations, making new friends and maturing as a young adult while realizing that the world is in my hands. As I finish my last semester here I will be able to look back and remember what a great place this has been, but more importantly, how Missouri State University-West Plains has prepared me for my future.
So enjoy your time here, even during those hectic, hair pulling, caffeine jittering, stressful moments…yes I do realize midterms did take place this week. To those new students out there, you past a major challenge…congratulations! Now let’s all breathe in that cool air as we walk across campus, and remember what an amazing University we attend.
