Our next three days we spent in Pacuare Natural Reserve (PNR), a marine research station at the Atlantic coast. Here we were able to meet the researchers and the projects that they are running in the place. We took lecture about sea turtles life cycle, tropical ecology, turtle census protocols, and research methodology.
\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-85\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.wp.missouristate.edu\/academics\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2015\/05\/tramola-negra-1500.jpg\" alt=\"Tramola Negra\" width=\"1500\" height=\"697\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.wp.missouristate.edu\/academics\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2015\/05\/tramola-negra-1500.jpg 1500w, https:\/\/blogs.wp.missouristate.edu\/academics\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2015\/05\/tramola-negra-1500-300x139.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.wp.missouristate.edu\/academics\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2015\/05\/tramola-negra-1500-768x357.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.wp.missouristate.edu\/academics\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2015\/05\/tramola-negra-1500-1024x476.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1500px) 100vw, 1500px\" \/><\/a>
\nEvery evening we patrolled the beach (3.5miles north, 3.5 miles south) without light from 8:00 PM to 4:00 AM looking for leather back turtles (endangered species and the biggest sea turtle in the world). The curricular activities included: sustainable development, rainforest ecology, and correlative field investigations.
