Chancellor’s Update:
- Encouraged everyone to consider contributing to the United Way Fund. Any amount given is appreciated, and all funds stay in the local area. Contact Cheryl Caldwell if you need additional information.
- The Friends of Garnett Library evening fashion show, social, and shopping will be held tonight from 5:30 – 7:30pm. November 10 in the At Home Market store.
- Two new Board of Governor members have been appointed. Peter Hofherr has been named to replace Mary Sheid in the eighth Congressional District and Stephen Hoven has been named to replace Mike Duggan in the second Congressional District.
- The weather policy has been updated and will be posted on our website. Staff is encouraged to sign up for the emergency alert system in order to receive weather and school closing information. Staff should listen carefully to the announcements: one option of the new policy allows for classes to be cancelled but offices would be open. Staff would report to work as weather conditions allowed. Dr. Bennett stressed that safety should be a priority consideration for everyone in determine whether or not classes will be cancelled.
Old Business:
- The deadline completing your HRA is November 18. If not completed as of the deadline, you will pay your $30.00 employee monthly premium.
New Business:
- Treasurer report – Karen Ryburn (no report given)
- The 50th anniversary honorary steering committee met for its first meeting yesterday to begin providing inspiration and ideas to mark the 50th celebration beginning in 2013. The actual working committees will begin meeting in January of 2012 to brainstorm and implement those ideas and more to mark the university’s half century anniversary. Faculty and staff, as well as community members, are encouraged to participate on these committees. Contact Elizabeth Grisham if you are interested in serving on a committee. The committees include:

- Kristen Starzinger, administrative assistant in University/Community Programs was welcomed to campus with a small gift from staff senate
- Brenda Malkowski invited everyone to attend the Art Teachers Reception, Dec. 2 at 7 pm in the WP Civic Center Magnolia Room.
- Everyone is invited to a Thanksgiving Meal in Putnam on November 22, 11:00 am to 1:30 pm. Cost is $5.
