Call to Order:
- President Grayson Gordon called the meeting to order.
Approval of Minutes:
- Jill Stephens made a motion, Alyssa Collins seconded and attendees approved.
Chancellor’s Update:
Dr. Bennett was in attendance.
- United Way: United Way campaign is underway. Encouraged staff to contribute to the campaign through payroll deduction or a one-time donation (forms were provided).
- China Campus visit: Tony Ary, Student Body President & Terri Combs, Registration & Records Assistant for the China Campus accompanied Dr. Bennett on the trip.
- Pay Raise: a pay raise of 2% for staff will go into effect in January. An intiative is underway to bring select personnel not at the 80% Compa ratio threshold up to that level.
- Key Performance Indicators: Discussed the Key Indicators as based upon the Long Range Plan: Enrollment, First Fall to Second Fall Retention, 3-year Graduation rate & Transfer Rate, Native Transfers to Missouri State University-Springfield, Performance on CAAP, % of credit hours/sections taught by full-time faculty, # of tutors/# of tutoring hours available, Diversity, Grant and Contract Activity, Amount of private giving, Public Affairs, & Sustainability initiatives
- Enrollment Task Force: An Enrollment Task Force has been formed to plans ways of increasing enrollment and retention.
- Registration Deadlines: Discussed Change in registration deadline and reasoning behind the change.
- Funding Opportunities: One-time money of $500,000 and on-going monies of $100,000 will be available from President Smart. Missouri State University-West Plains will determine one 10% request to make of each category.
- Work Smarter: Discussed ways to work more efficiently/smarter to better utilize our existing resources.
Old Business:
Lee Denim Day
- Year-long campaign, payroll deduction options are being explored with Springfield officials.
Construction Updates:
- Final walk-through for Gohn Hall is scheduled for December 19. Missouri State Outreach staff will move in sometime in the spring and classes will be scheduled for Fall 2013.
- Several buildings on campus will be removed, including homes on Missouri Ave., Webster Ave. and the former garage across from Cass Hall at corner of Cass and Missouri.
Personnel Searches:
- Director of Development (Full-time Staff) – Posted, Open until filled.
- Grant Development Specialist (Full-time Staff) – An offer has been made.
- Theatre & Events Coordinator (Full-time Staff) – Interviews are being scheduled.
- Instructional Designer (Full-time Staff) – Application deadline was 11/5/2012. The search committee has reviewed & ranked the applicant pool. Interviews will be conducted soon.
- Instructor, English (Nine-month Appointment) (Full-time Faculty) – First date of consideration was 10/15/2012, Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.The search committee has reviewed & ranked the applicant pool. Phone interviews will be conducted soon.
- Instructor, Computer Graphics & Programming (Nine-month Appointment) (Full-time Faculty) – Posted 11/2/2012. First date of consideration is 11/30/2012.
- Part-Time Library Assistant (Part-time Staff) – Application deadline extended to 11/16/2012
New Business:
- Key Performance Indicators (please see Chancellor’s Update)
- Enrollment Task Force has been developed. Meets weekly on Tuesdays.
- ASK Week/Early Registration: Ends today, November 9. Early Registration starts on November 16 and goes through November 27.
- United Way. Please contribute through payroll deduction. Forms can be sent to Cheryl Caldwell in University Communications.
- ACT no longer required, effective for Fall 2013. The COMPASS test will be used for placement purposes. ACT will still be accepted.
