I. Updates
Chancellor:
- CAAP test results for 2014-2015 reveal that our graduates’ scores remain above the national average.
- Homecoming basketball game will be Jan. 16.
- Trivia Night is Jan. 23.
- Enrollment is our campus number 1 priority.
Treasurer’s Report: $658.64
Minutes: Motion made by Alex Graham to accept last month’s minutes, seconded by Jared Cates and all in favor.
Administrative Council:
- New BOG member – Gabriel Gore.
- BOG meeting in West Plains has been changed from February to June 10.
- Bachelor-level course for Law Enforcement degree (CRM351) Trafficking in Humans, Guns and Drugs is being offered through ITV at Gohn Hall.
- Chancellor Bennett provided an update on a proposed Federal regulation regarding overtime pay.
- The Department of Education has granted the final approval for financial aid to be offered for the associate of science in law enforcement degree.
- Completion of the HRA (Health Risk Assessment) will save you $30 per month.
- Employee Recognition Luncheon on Friday, Jan. 29, noon to 1:30 p.m., in Magnolia Room at West Plains Civic Center. RSVP by Jan. 20 to Alyssa Collins at ext. 57265 or by email AlyssaCollins@MissouriState.edu with your attendance (or non-attendance) plans.
- Seeking grants for technical programs.
- Planning for Project Graduation this spring with hopes of more participation.
- Title III IT equipment that is not currently being utilized will be made available to faculty and staff.
- Goodbye, Marianne play Jan. 22 @ 7 pm; tickets $8; MSU-WP students and children 13 & under free. Ballroom Thieves concert Jan. 29 @ 7 p.m.; tickets $10; MSU-WP students and children 13 & under free.
- Deb Mosley has been named the Executive Assistant to the Chancellor and will be performing double duties until her previous position with Development is filled.
- Mary Kellum has been named Coordinator for TRiO.
- Hass-Darr Hall – next campus meeting Friday, Jan. 15, at 10 a.m. in Lybyer 104-105.
Departmental Updates:
Career Development Center (Jared Cates)
- Teacher Placement Day will be February 26.
- Complete Care Internship starts next week.
- Looking into starting some new programs such as a “Career Passport” program. More information to follow.
- Volunteers needed for the Habitat For Humanity Home Show, March 4-6. Contact Jared will have a sign up sheet available at our Feb. meeting.
Garnett Library (Sylvia Kuhlmeier)
- Shared information about “Learning Express Library” and the resources available.
- Films on Demand has a new interface.
- Library book orders are available for faculty & staff.
- Library instruction classes are available for students, faculty & staff.
- Friends of the Garnett Library are hosting a “Pre-Homecoming Chili Supper”, sponsored by Wendy’s, at the Civic Center, in the Magnolia Room. $7.50 for adults and $3.00 for children. That will cover your meal plus a ticket to the homecoming game.
Old Business:
- Chili Cook-Off: Grayson will be sending out a volunteer sign-up sheet.
