Chancellor’s Update:
- United Way Pledge Cards were passed out
- ASK week last week went well
- Red Carpet Days begin tomorrow, Nov 2
- Dennis Lancaster has completed and submitting two grants (1) to expand GOCAT Technical Programs and (2) to grow the Nursing Program by increasing the number of available slots for students
- Two new certificates are being offered (1) Medical Assisting and (2) Industrial Maintenance
- BOG approved raises for full-time employees to take effect in January
- Dr. Lawler sat in on a meeting with the Missouri Division of Tourism Director Ward Franz and a group of enthusiastic community members to brainstorm ways to promote the Ozarks Heritage Region.
- Chancellor Lawler and Dr. Dennis Lancaster attended the fall meeting of the Ozarks Teacher Corps on October 26 sponsored by Community Foundation of the Ozarks (CFO). CFO recently established a new scholarship on the West Plains campus for students who are pursuing teaching degrees and intend to teach in rural schools. The first eight scholarships will be awarded for Fall 2019
- Questions asked and answered:
- Will the GOCAT grant add staff? Ideally, it will fund current and new staff
- How long will the grants last? We will have to renew them every year
- Any update on the Director of Development position? Expecting a decision and announcement soon. Dr. Lawler stated once the new Director is in place, they will be contacting different departments inquiring about needs
- Any update on the buzz about the NJCAA National Tournament being held here? A very nice application was submitted and we have made it to the second round. It will most likely be in 2020, if it happens, and the Grizzly Booster Club will be finding ways to cover the costs involved
President Administrative Council Report:
- Amphitheater contract is out for bids
- BOG approved the Faculty 15 hour load proposal and the Faculty Senate has until February to update their handbook
Faculty Senate Report:
- On behalf of Mary Kellum, Bruce announced the Faculty Senate did approve the 15 credit hour proposal, during their closed session
