{"id":812,"date":"2013-06-24T19:48:02","date_gmt":"2013-06-25T00:48:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.wp.missouristate.edu\/staffsenate\/?p=812"},"modified":"2017-03-16T15:17:57","modified_gmt":"2017-03-16T20:17:57","slug":"staff-senate-meeting-minutes-20130621","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.wp.missouristate.edu\/staffsenate\/2013\/06\/24\/staff-senate-meeting-minutes-20130621\/","title":{"rendered":"Staff Senate Meeting Minutes 2013\/06\/21"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Members Present:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Darrell Hampsten, Kileen Collins, Lu Adams, Alicia Martin, Rogers Taylor, Scott Schneider, \u00a0Krista Webb, Alyssa Collins, Grayson Gordon,\u00a0Emily Gibson, Jill Stephens, Brenda Malkowski<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Call to Order:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Darrell Hampsten\u00a0called the meeting to order.<\/li>\n<li>Lu Adams and Emily Gibson were introduced and given Staff Senate coffee mugs as welcome gifts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Approval of Minutes:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The minutes were approved.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Chancellor\u2019s Update:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Dr. Bennett was out of town and did not give an update<\/li>\n<li>Scott Schneider reminded us of the 2% pay increase beginning on July 1.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Old Business:<\/h3>\n<h3>Construction\/Demolition Updates:<\/h3>\n<p>Scott Schneider reported that Gohn Hall is open, but there is still some work being done. \u00a0A memorial wall is being done to honor the family who lived there. \u00a0A screen wall is being put on the roof to hide the cooling tower and help reduce noise. \u00a0There is no new demolition in progress. The water problem in the Student Rec Center is fixed.<\/p>\n<p>Within the next year we need to begin to think about what we will do with the post office building. \u00a0We take possession on July 31, 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Personnel Searches:<\/p>\n<p><b>Director of Developmental Education<\/b>\u00a0(Full Time Staff) On campus interviews are being conducted<\/p>\n<p><b>Assistant Coordinator of Institutional Research-Effectiveness<\/b>\u00a0(Full Time Staff) A hiring proposal has been submitted.<\/p>\n<p><b>Child &amp; Family Development<\/b>\u00a0(Faculty, 9-Month Appointment)A hiring proposal has been submitted.<\/p>\n<p><b>Geosciences<\/b>\u00a0(Faculty, 9-Month Appointment)<br \/>\nPhone interviews are being scheduled.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Administrative Assistant II\/University\/Community Programs<\/strong> (full time staff) Application deadline is 6\/28\/2013.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Food Services Manager<\/strong> (full time staff) Application deadline is 7\/5\/2013.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Laboratory and Stores Supervisor, Natural Sciences\u00a0<\/strong>(full time staff) Application deadline is 7\/5\/2013.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lecturer, William and Virginia Darr Honors Program<\/strong> (Faculty, 9 month appointment) First date of consideration is 6\/21\/2013. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Part-time Small Business Counseling Assistant<\/strong> (part-time staff). Rebecca Evans has been hired.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tutors:<\/strong> Math, Writing, CIS\/CGP (Student)<\/p>\n<p>Treasurer report:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Current balance is $157<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>New Business:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Welcome Week needs to be planned and coordinated. \u00a0Staff Senate will fund the picnic to be held on Friday, August 16th at People&#8217;s Park. \u00a0Grayson moved that we fund and sponsor this event; Krista seconded. Motion passed.<\/li>\n<li>Some additional funds will need to be raised in order to pay for the food. \u00a0We voted to have a potluck lunch on Friday, July 19 and ask for donations. The lunch will be in the Cass Conference Room.<\/li>\n<li>Darrell will speak to the Chancellor about having a &#8220;Denim Day&#8221; on either August 2 or August 9 to raise additional funds.<\/li>\n<li>Krista moved to grant Mozilla Jett (who is retiring) Emeritus status. \u00a0Grayson seconded.
