Welcome to new employee, Bronwen Madden, Small Business Technology Development Center (SBTDC) Coordinator

Open Positions Report

Scott Schneider reported.

  • The first date of consideration for the faculty position in History is June 20.
  • A hiring proposal has been submitted for the bookstore manager.
  • Interviews for the Administrative Assistant IV position are being conducted.
  • Michelle Kwan has been hired for the mathematics faculty position.
  • The Director of Information Technology Services position will be posted soon. Sue Ingram is retiring Jan. 1, 2015.

Capital Projects Report

Scott Schneider reported.

  • Parking lot resurfacing will begin in July. Information on lot closures will be made available when scheduled.
  • Grizzly House roof is complete.

Upcoming Events

  • The Old Time Music Ozark Heritage Festival will be held June 20-21. Volunteers to work shifts at the MSU-West Plains booth are being sought, contact Scott Schneider if interested.
  • Kids’ College will be July 7-10 from noon to 5 p.m. each day. Volunteers are always appreciated. Contact Emily Gibson if interested.

Departmental Updates – none provided

HLC update

  • Draft report has been received and MSU-West Plains’ written response has been submitted. The university’s final report is expected in early fall. The response can be viewed online on Experts.

Motion made by Grayson Gordon to approve minutes, seconded by Scott Schneider. Motion carried.

Old Business

Volunteer Projects

As part of Grizzly Giveback program, an extension of Operation 50K, the university is seeing opportunities to contribute to a large-scale project. Staff Senate is considering Adopt a Street program with City of West Plains or Habitat for Humanity. Staff Senate will vote on which project at July meeting.

New Business

  • Reminder from Chulapol to send him any agenda items for Staff Senate.
  • Due to the Independence Day holiday, the next Staff Senate meeting will be 10:30 a.m. July 11 in Cass Hall conference room.
