Approval of Agenda – Motion to approve agenda made by, Kelly Becker, seconded by, Sheila Barton, motion carried

Approval of January Meeting Minutes – Motion to approve the March 10, 2022, meeting minutes by, Jared Cates seconded by, Kelly Becker, motion carried

Chancellor’s Report

  • Budget still looking good for a 5.4% increase in state appropriations – if hired prior to April 1 staff will receive an increase in pay
  • Employee picnic – 4/29 at the Amphitheater – Pres. Smart will be here also – if it rains, it will be held at the Civic Center
  • GAP – first cohort coming to an end – congrats to all – encourages others to apply for the next cohort
  • Discussions regarding MSU-West Plains night at Springfield Cardinals game – asking for interest
  • Tuition increase – inflationary pressures – to help with salary increases and retirement

    • No report but looks forward to meeting more of our staff in person

    • Thanks to Rachel for this year as President
    • Last faculty senate meeting May 6 – send any items needing to be addressed in their meeting, to Gary

President’s Report (Rachel Peterson)

  • Zoom option discussions for meetings
    • Our attendance is larger via Zoom because it allows staff to attend while still maintaining a presence in offices – can discuss further at future meetings
  • Thank you for this past year and all the work you do. She has enjoyed her time as our President

Secretary Report (Kileene Collins) – no report

    • Grizzly Ambassador Program
      • May 13 graduation ceremony – they will also be recognized during the Employee Appreciation Picnic
      • Be thinking about applying for next year!
  • Departmental Reports
    • Human Resources (Alyssa Collins)
      • Last week to RSVP! We’re coming out of hibernation and it’s time to come Roarin’ Back in 2022! We look forward to seeing all full-time faculty and staff at the annual employee appreciation picnic from noon to 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 29, at the MSU-WP amphitheater. RSVP to Alyssa Collins via email AlyssaCollins@MissouriState.edu by Friday, April 22, as to whether or not you plan to attend. Please indicate if you prefer a vegetarian meal. In case of rain, it will take place at the WPCC. Arbor Day celebration will immediately follow.
      • Don’t lose vacation! Employees are encouraged to check their leave balances to avoid lost vacation time at end of FY22. Read the HR Blog for more details.

      • Looking for departments to host an internship for students to further help them be prepared for employment once they graduate

      • Rachel took a poll seeking those interested in Dr. Lancaster’s idea of having a MSU-West Plains night during a Springfield Cardinal’s game and will provide the results to him
