Staff Senate Mission Statement:

The Staff Senate serves as a liaison to administration as an advocate for staff welfare and productivity, in conjunction with the University’s mission to support, improve, innovate, and promote academic excellence.

  • That Friday Thing – looking for a department to host a November event.
  • Volunteer opportunities:
    • Possible volunteer opportunities include Birthday Blessings and United Way
  • Staff Senate welcome gifts for new employees:
    • Update from Trevor Cressman
    • Please note that while everyone wants to welcome a new staff member, we won’t be able to provide very much for very long if we don’t get fundraising ideas and make them a reality. I am communicating with Alison Harper in the Foundation department on the Springfield campus. My goal is to get allowable vs. nonallowable fundraising events. I will keep you posted.
  • Welcome to the Grizzly family:
    • Douglas Cooley, Assistant Director of Student Life (moved from Admissions)
    • Cyneca Huddleston, Assistant Coordinator, Residence Life
    • Jessica Johnson, Success Coach
  • Grizzly Volleyball is headed to nationals next week. They are ranked 10th in the nation. Wish them good luck when you see them!
  • The Angel Tree has 40 Angels on it. Would you consider giving funds so the Staff Senate can adopt some angels? Sponsors are asked to spend at least $60 and provide at least one toy and clothing item. SGA will do the shopping. As a reminder, our Angel Tree is restricted to the children of our students, so through your generosity, this program has a direct impact on those we seek to serve each day. If we agree to collect money so Staff Senate can adopt some angels, Kileene Collins has graciously agreed to be the collector of funds.
  • On Friday, November 15, the Grizzly Ambassadors will volunteer at Birthday Blessings and tour the Wulff-Risner Agriculture Science Center.
  • The next Administrative Council meeting is Wednesday, November 20. Please let me know if you have any questions or issues to bring before the Council. My extension is 57900, and my email address is WPStaffSenate@MissouriState.edu. My office door is always open (Kellett Hall, #203).

    • United Way Campaign: Missouri State-West Plains is kicking off the annual United Way Campaign with a goal of $6,500. Your local Heart of the Ozarks United Way directly impacts you and your community. The United Way concept is that working together can make a bigger impact in our community. Join us in supporting Heart of the Ozarks United Way. Please donate by completing the attached pledge card and sending it to Alyssa Collins in Kellett Hall by Friday, Dec. 13.
    • Part-Time Employee of the Year Award: All full-time employees are encouraged to submit a nomination for the 2024 Part-Time Employee of the Year Award. Please review the attached information and submit nominations to Alyssa Collins by email at AlyssaCollins@MissouriState.edu or hard copy at Kellett Hall 202 by Friday, Jan. 10, 2025.
    • Virtual Benefits Fair: Missouri State University is excited to bring you another Virtual Benefits Fair, powered by Airbo, for 2024. You’ll be able to learn about 2025 benefits and open enrollment in a fun, easy format.
    • Open Enrollment: Now through Dec. 1: Missouri State University’s open enrollment for the 2025 benefits year will run from Nov. 1, 2024, through Dec. 1, 2024. Even if you don’t have changes, you should complete open enrollment to review your plan(s) for accuracy, verify that your personal information is current, and make sure you have beneficiaries updated.
    • Save up to $360 on your annual health insurance premiums!:To qualify for the full 2025 wellness incentive, full-time health plan members can earn a $30 monthly incentive by completing any two (2) of the following by Dec. 1, 2024. Each activity is worth $15. Completing all three is encouraged; however, the maximum incentive is $30. Each activity is worth $15.       • Complete the “Did you know 2.0” video via My Learning Connection. (Nov 1.- Dec. 1).
