President’s Report (Trish Smith)

• After his retirement, Dennis Lancaster will become Staff Emeritus.
• That Friday Thing: If any department(s) wants to host next, please send me an email at the WPStaffSenate@MissouriState.edu email address.
• Volunteer opportunities: Let Trish know if you are interested in volunteering and which day works for you. Multiple groups can work together. All hands make a difference.
  • Birthday Blessings has group volunteer opportunities on the following weekday mornings:

  • Interscholastic Competition – Friday, April 11. Expecting 450-475 students. We need all hands on deck to help. Please sign up if you are able.

• Fundraising For Staff Senate:
  • “Grizzly Campus Recipes” cookbook:
    • Trish shared two options to choose from and created a poll for a vote. The design with the arched Missouri State University-West Plains was the winner.
    • Discussions to raise the selling price from $20 to $25 as the book is 20-23 pages more than originally expected. Trish created a poll for a vote. It was decided to sell the cookbooks for $25 each.
    • As a reminder, the first order will be a quantity of 50-60.
    • We will use Springfield print services to print the book.
    • The first 27-32 books sold will reimburse the bookstore for the cost of printing. Every book sold past that will be staff senate funds.
• Welcome to the Grizzly family:
  • Simon Hodges – Custodian (Simon has been a part-time custodian since September 2020).
• The next Administrative Council meeting is Wednesday, April 16. Please let me know if you have any questions or issues to bring before the Council. My extension is 57900, and my email address is WPStaffSenate@MissouriState.edu. My office door is always open (Kellett Hall, #203).

    • GAP will be visiting the Springfield campus on Friday, April 11.
  • Assessment and Accreditation (Alex Graham)
    • HLC Update – Alex reminded everyone their co-curricular plan will need to be entered into Watermark soon. Angie Totty will be reaching out to those included. Alex said she is happy to help if anyone has questions or needs guidance. The more data she has to work with, the better.
  • Music Program (Rocky Long)

• • Garnett Library (Rebekah McKinney)
    • Friends of the Garnett Library Fashion Show April 17 11:30-1:30 at the Country Club. Contact the Garnett Library or Carol Silvey if you’d like to attend.
    • Friends of the Garnett Library’s last meeting is scheduled for May 2 at noon. Carla Neff will be presenting the annual report and Rebekah will be providing an update on the library. $10 if you want to eat lunch. RSVP by April 28.

    • The master calendar has been updated on the homepage of our website. Under the ‘About MSU-WP’ header, click on calendar and you will see it has been organized. Upcoming Events are listed on the page but if you only want to look at the academic calendar or the athletic calendar for example, there are three buttons labeled:

    • Reminder as the end of our fiscal year is coming up, please look at your budgets for things that should or should not be showing and if you have purchases for this fiscal year, they need to be made sooner rather than later and before June 30, 2025.
  • OzCon (CJ Collins)
    • April 25-27 at the West Plains Civic Center and they need volunteers. Please contact CJ if interested.
