Call to Order

Approval of Agenda – Motion made by Mel Steel to approve the agenda. Seconded by Alyssa Collins, and all in favor.

Approval of August Meeting Minutes – Motion made to approve the August meeting minutes by Krista Lair. Seconded by Wayne Cahoj, and all in favor.

Chancellor’s Report (Zora Mulligan)

• Chancellor Mulligan shared information on the following topics:
  • Opening Day Enrollment – As of September 2, head count was up 4% and credit hours was down 3%.
  • Budget – It is projected to be tight this year and at least the next two. It is also very possible we will not be getting any increase from the state. We will know more after the census day which is September 22. Administrative Council has been advised to be conservative with spending. We must focus on ways to increase enrollment and cutting spending costs.
  • HLC visit – The site visit will be November 17-18. Our liaison will be attending the faculty senate meeting on October 3 via Zoom so it may be available for staff to view that Zoom as it would be beneficial for all to hear from him.
  • Strategic Planning – President Williams requested a plan for the next 5 years to be completed by the June 2026 Board of Governors meeting.
  • This Old House – Regarding the Richard’s House which is where Chancellor Mulligan is living, she expressed she is in the process of hiring someone to maintain the yardwork as it is not completed by the university.

President’s Report (Trevor Cressman)

• That Friday Thing
  • Friday, September 19, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. – Advising and Academic Support/Veteran Services in Hass Darr.
  • Discussions were had regarding the format. The following ideas were brought forward to a vote:
    • Change the time of the event from the normal lunch hours to the afternoon.
    • Instead of providing a meal, limit it to light snacks. More of a social gathering opposed to eating lunch.
    • The location of the event to be determined according to the department(s) available space. If not enough space in their office area, pick a centralized location.
    • Trevor to create a schedule for each month and allow departments to sign up.
  • Lora Davis made a motion for the above ideas, seconded by Jon Allen, and all in favor.

• Alex was not present but asked Trevor to share our account Balance: $2291.58

Committee Reports

• Staff Senate Activities Committee – Trevor provided a sign-up sheet for those interested. A few ideas Trevor has come up with for future activities are:
  • Chili Cook-Off (Fall)
  • Casino / Game Night
  • Christmas event
  • End of school event
• Master Calendar – Melissa Jett reminded all who may be planning events, to check the master calendar to avoid overlapping with other department events.

  • Performance Review Training:
    • A new online system for the Appraisal and Planning (ADP) process launches September 2. The performance review system is accessed via the Performance Tab in My Learning Connection. Virtual HR Live training sessions for both supervisors and employees begin September 2; register in My Learning Connection by searching “ADP” or “supervisor.” Visit the updated HR–Employee Relations webpage for more information about the release and updates.
  • Save the Dates:
    • Flu and biometrics clinics are scheduled for Wednesday, October 8, and Thursday, October 30. Appointment details will be provided in Take Note.
    • The annual Employee Benefits Fair will be Thursday, October 30 from 9 a.m. – noon in the Student Recreation Center.
    • Benefits Open Enrollment will be November 1 – December 1.

Trevor held a drawing for two winners to win a free coffee from Grizzly Grounds and the winners were: Kelly Towell and Kris Brinkerhoff.
