A Month and a Half In

2014 April 17 by Ashley Prince

Most of the people I’ve come across here in China have been pretty friendly. It’s common for people to ask to take pictures of us or with us, and it is also common to see people taking pictures and recordings of us without asking. There are usually some people that stare at us wherever we go. In America, if you make eye contact with someone who is staring at you, they stop looking and maybe turn away. In China, however, staring isn’t considered rude; they’ll will continue to stare even if you catch them doing it. For some of the people, it’s their first time seeing a foreigner, so it’s understandable. After awhile, you adjust to it though.
