The Dalian Forest Zoo has around 200 species and cost us about $20 to get in. Although it seems a bit pricey, we were there for a large portion of the day and were never less than entertained. We did have the misfortune of visiting in the rain, but it was still very enjoyable. The zoo was quite large and required a lot of walking but there were lots of things to do and places to see the entire time. We started out at the panda house where there were regular pandas and a large amount of red pandas. Along with these there was a walk through where you could view things such as: rhinos, rams, hyenas, leopards, wolves, giraffes, ostriches, ponies, donkeys, and camels. Some interactions you can do is visit the llamas (in a patio complete with snacks), pet the zebras (who you could feed carrots to), wave at the bears (who wave back and do other tricks for snacks), watch the beautiful tigers (who you could feed chicken to [including entire live chickens]), and play with the monkeys. Yes I said play. You can literally walk around with lemurs that will eat fruit and let you pet them. It was awesome. You can also visit the reptile house which is nothing less than extravagant. Imagine an enormous green house filled with lizards, snakes, turtles and bird. Let’s just say this was a day well spent- soaking wet and all!
