President’s Report (Vickie Petkovic)

• Staff Senate T-shirts are still available in the bookstore.
• We need some ideas on how to use our staff senate funds.
•  Upcoming University System President candidates’ open forums: All are encouraged to attend and participate in the feedback surveys:
  • Feb 14, Feb 26, and Feb 28 all at 1:30 in Fowler Lecture Hall in Looney Hall.
• The next Administrative Council meeting is Tuesday, Feb. 13. Please let Vickie know of any questions you have or issues that you want brought before the council.
• Staff Emeritus Nomination – Sheila Barton, nominated by Trevor Cressman. All in favor.

  • Advancement Services (Rachel Peterson, Director of Development and Annual Giving)
    • Giving Day – March 5 & 6. Three ways to give:
      • Ambassador – for those that are tech savvy – Feb 13 training available.
      • Advocate – sharing from personal accounts on social media.
      • Giver – simply donate – match or challenge opportunities.
      • Contact Rachel for any questions or tips.
    • Distinguished Awards
      • Distinguished Alumni and Distinguished Faculty/Staff
        • Nominations deadline Feb 15 – Look for a link on the Alumni and Friends web page.

    • GAP team building with Dr. Totty, Feb. 16.
  • Workforce Development (Trevor Cressman) – After much discussion, they have decided to change the name to Workforce Development and Community Education.
  • Career Services (Lindsey Hicks) – Career Fair, Feb. 29 from 10am – 1pm in the Student Rec Center.
  • Garnett Library (Rebekah McKinney)
    • Friends of the Garnett Library meeting from 12:00 – 1:00pm at the Garnett Library. Speaker will be Dr. Sharath Rongali.
    • Ozark Heritage Resource Center – Black History Month presentation by Larry Gragg from 6-7:30pm at the Garnett Library.
    • African American Heritage in the Ozarks Exhibit – From Feb 1 through March 31 Traveling exhibit available for viewing at the Garnett Library, during operating hours.
  • Rachel Peterson, on behalf of Admissions – Red Carpet Days Feb 9 and Feb 16. Rachel reminded all that these are very important recruitment opportunities for our campus. Please acknowledge the potential students with a friendly smile and show them why this is the place they want to come to!
• Committee Reports:
  • That Friday Thing (Kelly Becker) – Kelly was not present but did advise Vickie of the tentative date of March 1. Drop in Lybyer 215 from 2-3pm to meet/visit with the staff and enjoy a small treat. Mark your calendars and watch for updates.
  • Summer Scholars (Trevor Cressman) – Tentative date: June 24-28. More information to come.
